The history of silk carpets dates back to the time of Iranian handmade silk carpets in the Safavid period. Silk rugs are luxurious not only because of their fine texture and shiny, polished properties, but also because of the quality of their color. The beautiful effects of silk are in no way comparable to the best wool. Silk is a magical fiber that is incredibly thin and incredibly strong. These properties are matched by the brightness of the colors when light is reflected by the prismatic structure of the fibers. Silk is soft but exceptionally durable and as a commodity has made it the most famous way of trading in the world. Today, silk is still the main luxury fiber.

All kinds of silk carpets

1- All silk carpet

Carpets that are made of silk are called all silk.

2- Silk flower carpet

In these types of carpets, silk is used instead of woolen lint in the patterns and around the edges, and usually the weft of this type of carpet is silk.

3- Silk floor carpet

Only in the field of such carpets, instead of woolen lint, silk lint has been used.

Handmade carpets have luxurious self-reflection, luster and luxurious soft texture. These luxurious fibers have a magical effect when used in the carpet industry or as a decorative accent to give a shine to designs. Silk fibers, which are thinner than human hair, have a crystalline structure that reflects ambient light and creates a shiny, glossy appearance known as natural fibers. Although the process of opening thousands of feet of silk from a silkworm cocoon is tedious, the result is astounding. These magnificent carpets were widely produced in India, China, Iran and Turkey. Handmade silk carpets have a unique beauty and luxurious appearance that makes them exceptionally desirable. When displayed on the floor or wall, handmade silk rugs create a striking look.

Designing and producing machine made carpets, in addition to being an economic and money-making activity, is also considered an art, and its design and production is common in many countries, especially Iran and Turkey. Of course, Iran has gained a higher reputation in this field.

Most carpet weavers in different cities of Iran, such as Isfahan, weave this type of carpet and of course in many cases export it because in European countries, especially there are many people interested in Iranian silk runner carpets. This type of carpet is woven based on different patterns, which are mainly numerous geometric lines and distorted flowers. The process of producing silk carpets is not much different from other types of carpets. What is important in the production of silk carpets is the raw materials used in it.
